Het is heel belangrijk om dat in de gaten te houden, PLA composteerbaar bekers zijn alleen gemaakt voor koude vloeistoffen. Ze zijn niet bestand tegen hitte en worden zacht bij hoge temperaturen. Deze PLA-koelbekers zijn zeer geschikt voor koude dranken met ijs, maar mogen niet gebruikt worden voor hete vloeistoffen. In het geval van transport, met name van verpakkingen die aan hitte kunnen worden blootgesteld, moeten speciale isolatieverpakkingen worden gebruikt omdat temperaturen van 50-70 graden Celsius kunnen leiden tot verweking van de beker.

PLA-bekers zijn niet hittebestendig. Tijdens het transport in containers kan de interne temperatuur van de container echter oplopen tot 50-70°C door langdurige blootstelling aan zonlicht. Daarom hebben onze producten een speciale verpakking nodig: elke doos moet een isolerende zak bevatten en de hele container moet bedekt zijn met een grote thermische isolatiezak om te voorkomen dat de producten zacht worden door langdurige hoge temperaturen.
Temperature Sensitivity
Compostable PLA cups can be constructed with the use of only standard virgin copolymer for these cups to serve cold drinks only. These cups cannot handle hot drinks because such drinks may soften or distort the integrity of the cup, due to heat. Beyond this, to ease the exposure, mainly in hot weather, cushions or any insulating material should be used to cover the cups to avoid them getting soft on exposure to heat.
