Biodegradable tableware is any type of tableware made from renewable and sustainable materials such as sugar cane, potato starch, cornstarch, bamboo and wood. In GB18006.3-2020 “General Technical Requirements for Disposable Degradable Tableware”, the requirements for tableware to be marked “degradable” are more stringent. For example, the biodegradation rate must reach more than 60%, and the starch content of degradable tableware with starch components must not be low. At present, most domestic manufacturers of degradable tableware can meet the above standards.

4. The edges are smooth and regular. The product with cover is easy to close and flat, and the rebound cover should not be buckled.
Technical requirements for biodegradable tableware
Disposable degradable tableware must be made of raw materials that are non-toxic, harmless, clean and pollution-free, and comply with national food hygiene and environmental protection regulations and standards. The following raw materials, additives, coatings and chemical preparations shall not be used to make and process disposable degradable tableware:
1. Natural materials and their rough processed products without decontamination treatment;
2. Failure to deteriorate, mildew or contamination;
3. The content of harmful substances does not meet the hygienic standards;
4. Recycling recycled materials;
5. Fluorescent whitening agent.
Green and environmentally friendly packaging should meet three points, one is easy to recycle, the other is easy to dispose of, and the third is easy to digest, that is, it is easy to be integrated into the natural environment, but even degradable tableware cannot be achieved in a short time. Many degradable products claim that the degradation time is three months to six months, but in fact this is determined in the laboratory standard environment. In the natural environment, the degradation is affected by various factors such as temperature and humidity. Experts suggest that degradable tableware can be identified through several methods of “one look, two smells, and three tears”:

The second touch is to feel the strength of the lunch box. The lunch box produced by using recycled waste or adding a large amount of industrial grade calcium carbonate and talcum powder is generally poor in strength and will break if you tear it lightly.
The third smell is to smell whether there is any peculiar smell in the lunch box, and the qualified lunch box cannot smell the smell.
